Lazy Australians!
8.1.09
Today was a most casual day! A lovely sleep in, and a day of nothingness! Some new guys had checked in and they were from Bunbury and one studies at Murdoch, so we talked for ages. Eventually I took myself for a walk around Irving. Discovered the beautiful local park and waterway. Neat and tidy it was, and so nice in the sun. Bought a book from the supermarket and read that in the sun for a while. Was bailed up by a few locals around the place who wanted to talk, not at all a problem, I sure do love to talk back!!
Bought some food to make dinner and some chocolate for dessert. It was Thursday night and Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice were on. I'd found a bottle of kahlua yesterday when we were on our excursion through downtown Dallas, so that was also on the menu for tv time! Nadia and Cecile were Grey's fans also, and hadn't seen it this season, so once I gave them a run down on the plot so far, we were set to monopolise the tv!
Once it had finished, started talking to "Mr Japan" - a new roommate who was very weird. He's from Japan and studying architecture in Montana, and had come to Dallas to see the architecture in Fort Worth. Now we're not architecture experts, but really can't comprehend that Montana could be the best architecture school in the world - which he not just suggested, but actually said!!!! He also informed me that Australian people are lazy like the Europeans because we don't live to work. That went down REALLY well, as I'm sure you can imagine!! I tried to explain that that's a broad generalisation, but he didn't get it. Apparently the Japanese and Americans value money making far more than we possibly could. I had to bite my tongue a lot in conversation with him.
